Got inspired by other authors to do a 2025 Wrapped—Author Edition.

2025 was a heck of a year professionally. I published four books, released three audio editions, launched my direct sales business, launched Woman In The Word blog with almost 20 posts completed. I completed my first book fair event and had so much fun! And the truth is, I’m just getting started.

I can’t say what 2026 will look like but I’m happy with my 2025 stats. Noah, our resident sports book boyfriend, would be proud.

Got inspired by other authors to do a 2025 Wrapped—Author Edition.

Closing out 2025 with one last project! I just finished editing The Last Christmas List: A Holiday Romance Novella 🎄❤️

I will format it and hit publish tomorrow. Depending on how quickly Amazon approves it, this may be the final release of 2025 or the first release of 2026.

This novella was a total passion project and was inspired by my real life. It is bittersweet, but drives home a powerful message to reflect on at this time of year.

“The greatest present is presence.”

There is a super cute love story between Lily and Jax at the center. He’s her brother’s best friend / childhood bully / first boy she ever loved, kissed / first heartbreak, etc. And now they’re reunited for the first time in seven years for one last Andrew’s family Christmas.

A novella is obviously much shorter than a full length novel but I still feel like you get enough from these two characters to fall in love with their love story AND step into the world of Serendipity, Louisiana—the small town outside of New Orleans where this story is set.

Mapping out my 2026 projects! Honestly, I will say my biggest struggles as an indie author are: content creation, marketing, advertising, and work-life balance.

I love writing!! I just don’t like promoting my writing. But you have to to an extent to actually be able to continue writing.

What I’ve discovered is a simpler approach to “content creation” and that’s just sharing an inside look at my process & my writing table.

Instead of me spending hours in Canva, creating posts I’ll likely never share (because time 🙃), I’ll just show you what it looks like when I write a book, a short story, a blog post. Sound good?

Right now, I’m creating a project priority list for next year. My must-dos and my maybe-dos.

Right now, I’m taking a pause to focus on my family. I will still work quietly offline doing what I feel led to as I have time to. But quietly and offline is key.

More blog content is sure to come. Additionally, I’m still excited about my Christian non-fiction book I’m set to begin next year. I’ve also got something else fiction wise I feel excited about. But again, I will get to it when I get to it and there likely won’t be any big announcements anytime soon. Maybe just small launches 🥹👀

Wrapping up my backlist breakdown is the book that caught me by surprise. I never imagined myself writing a story with a deaf lead. This idea came to me after sudden inspiration and it was so beautiful, I had to write it. ⁣

Normally when I write, I'm crying, laughing, screaming. I'm feeling all the emotions as the scenes play out in my mind. My fingers move across the keyboard at rapid speed, translating what's happening in my head. ⁣

When I look back on writing this novel, I feel like I was out of my body. I don't remember crying or experiencing all the emotions I normally do. Yet my readers spend most of the book crying their eyes out. ⁣

This is a heartbreaking book and yet, I didn't feel that ache while writing. I'd been carrying it inside me for years. Writing this book was me staring at the computer, watching the words scribble before me with a blank expression on my face. ⁣

There were a few lines that woke me up from the daze. A few moments that felt like aha! That's good. But mostly, it was just an extraction of so much that'd been living inside me.⁣

Across my seven novel backlist these are my most used tropes. I'm a sucker for the redemption story. While it isn't always a second chance by romance genre standards, my novels usually feature some aspect of a second chance for my characters: second chance at love with a new partner. Found family and healing themes are usually always present, which is another way I drive home the theme of the second chance. ⁣

My character development usually begins with some form of trauma. I like to know my character's darkness / their lowest moment before I begin writing. Because, in life, our trauma impacts every choice we make and the way we view / operate in the world and in relationships. ⁣
⁣
As someone who enjoys a well-paced novel, I often include suspenseful moments to amp up my reader's heart rate and quicken the pace to help balance the longer narrative portions. ⁣

My character development usually begins with some form of trauma. I like to know my character's darkness / their lowest moment before I begin writing. Because, in life, our trauma impacts every choice we make and the way we view / operate in the world and in relationships. ⁣

Fun Fact: I originally only planned for there to be 10 chapters of them in high school. So, if the beginning feels like it happens really first, it's because it was written with the intention of Part 1 being 10 chapters not 35. 😅 But I honestly feel like it works so well. We get a good introduction into Emerson and Noah's personal lives and immediately jump into building their connection. ⁣

So, the scenes from the Fall Carnival weren't originally included in the novel, but were added during revisions. They ended up being some of my favorites and my reader's favorites. ⁣

𝐹𝓊𝓃 𝐹𝒶𝒸𝓉: The Magnolia High Fall Carnival was inspired by a fall carnival we used to have at my high school and it was housed in the "Old Gym," which totally added to the nostalgic feel of the night. ⁣

I normally wouldn’t announce projects this far in advance but I want to share this journey with you, especially because it’s new for all of us.

NEW FICTION SERIES: Redeemed Hearts
🤎 The first book in this series of standalones is Sweet Refuge and it will release next year. This novel is the perfect blend of faith meets fiction. I’m combining popular romance tropes like opposites attract, workplace/ close proximity, bully, and more with faith-influences like low spice and a spiritual redemption journey.
📖 Not all books in this series will feature faith-influences (at least, I don’t think) but they will feature amazing redemption arcs, which are always my favorite to write.
🤎I would classify this novel as Contemporary Romance / Contemporary Inspirational Romance.
📖 It will be a cozy fall read that is The Hating Game meets Redeeming Love.

- Project 31: A Year of Becoming A Proverbs 31 Woman is something I am so excited about. I will turn 31 next March and will write this book over the span of my 31st year of life.
- It will detail my transformation of becoming the woman God called me to be while also aiding the reader’s own transformation with helpful insight into the struggles of becoming, monthly challenges, guided scripture study and journal prompts.

Life update!! 🤎🌾

Last week was book launch week but it was also a week of a lot of mental struggle for me AND a lot of writing. I wrote (3) new posts for Woman In The Word detailing my personal struggles in a way I honestly didn’t expect to, but needed to.

Last night, I hosted Friendsgiving at my house and it was great to have good time with my girls!

Today, the sermon at my church, @wogm was exactly what I’ve been needing. It was all about waiting on the Lord, having patience in the waiting, not losing hope, and trusting Him to bring the harvest in your life.

This message was made just for me. I could hear God speaking to me throughout the whole service. Even the music addressed some of the things I’d been struggling with which was the idea that I have to be perfect to be blessed, chosen, and worthy.

Now, I’m going to reflect more on today’s sermon with my super cute @kingfolkco stickers. A new blog post about the Waiting Season may be coming soon. I write where the spirit leads me. I write from my own struggles and this has certainly been one.

This book completely destroyed me obviously in the best, most beautiful way possible. I was not prepared for the emotional wreckage this book would leave me in.⁣

I was ugly crying literally at 30% into the book and somehow still devoured every single word like I hadn’t just been torn apart to learn to rebuild with Emerson and Noah.⁣

The story was raw, real, and so full of heart that I felt every emotion right alongside the characters. They just didn’t get a break these two, man. I was gutted for more than half of this book. It’s no lie, 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤. I also read this book in less than 8 hours, 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. ⁣

Emerson and Noah gave us a look at love, loss, and finding your way back, not just home, but to yourself. I ate up every single crumb of this book, and I’d do it all over again even knowing it would wreck me all over. 🥹⁣

The story was raw, real, and so full of heart that I felt every emotion right alongside the characters. They just didn’t get a break these two, man. I was gutted for more than half of this book. I was practically crying through the whole thing because it is the most I have personally related to a character's situation and personality before. I know Emily put a lot of herself into this book and I'm so glad she did. It helps so many women feel less alone. It also shows that people heal very differently, but there are healthy ways to do it. Everyone deserves a safe space and to be loved endlessly. ⁣

Emerson lives so much of her life struggling. Whether it's her abusive father, passive mother, bullies, lost family, etc. Noah become her safe space, but when tragedy hits, he doesn't know how to process anything. Having read the first book, I knew what was coming, but I still wasn't prepared for how bad it hurt. The journey is full of learning to heal themselves in order to help each other. Noah is exactly what Emerson needs, even years later when they come back together. Noah may lose everything, but he has always loved Emerson and that live also gives him everything he needs. ⁣

While I am sad that this is Emily's last spicy book, I am proud of her own growth and her wonderful writing. I have been blessed to be able to do several ARCs for her over the last couple of years. They made me realize how I'd been romanticizing violence, darkness, and a lot of things that weren't good for me. The way Noah loved Emerson made me long for a sweet love like theirs and sweet touch, like his. ⁣

I just found out last night that You Can Feel It In The Silence was nominated for an award! This was a total surprise. I had nothing to do with the nominations and apparently nominations were in August.

This book just made it to the top of my 2025 favourites list. Noah is the book boyfriends of all book boyfriends. Going through Emerson's story myself, reliving it with her reminded me of my own strength.Even though there were some very heavy topics in Noah and Emerson's story, Emily tackled them with grace and sensitivity.I adored the way Noah cares for Emerson and the way she cherishes him. Their relationship was sweet and kind. They took their time building a relationship that turned into more overtime. I absolutely loved that. It made their connection genuine and real.⁣

When I tell you I know this will be a book that I think about for a very long time, I’m not exaggerating. Emily has outdone herself with this one. She gave us such an emotionally intelligent young man in the beginning of this book and put him through the wringer, as well as an emotionally unstable girl that your heart will bleed for. Noah and Emerson are such special characters, from the very beginning of the book their attraction to each other hooks the reader. Emily did such a beautiful job showcasing all of the emotions both the characters and the reader go through throughout this book. This is a romance that will fully wreck you and put you back together again. You HAVE to read it, you just have to. You Can Always Come Home releases next month on Nov 12, which gives you plenty of time to read Emerson’s big brother’s story before!⁣
